VIRIGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Hundreds of people interested in seeing President Barack Obama rally in Virginia Beach Thursday lined up Monday evening to receive tickets to the event.
The president will be speaking at Farm Bureau Live, 3550 Cellar Door Way. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m .
This trip will mark Obama's third stop in Hampton Roads in recent months, showing just how important Virginia is to both candidates. He visited Norfolk State University earlier this month and spoke at two local high schools in July.
GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney campaigned in the Pungo section of Virginia Beach earlier this month and announced Paul Ryan as his running mate in Norfolk in August.
"[Obama] probably [doesn't] want to leave stones unturned," Don, a supporter of the president, said. "You know you can't take anything for granted. I heard he was up in the polls too which is a good thing."
The president carried Virginia in 2008. A Washington Post poll published last week has Obama in the lead 52-44 among likely voters.
Vice President Joe Biden will campaign in Chesterfield Tuesday.
Tickets for the Obama event on Thursday will also be given out starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the following locations:
