Well in truth state government, ( the people ) can make it legal all they want, and still they will end up in prison. A time will come when the Federal Government will crack down on states, now either the PEOPLE will then stop and read and vote people into office to change the current laws in effect or we will need to build many more jails and prisons. The fact is Marijuana cannot be made legal by any state, because the Federal Government has signed treaties with other countries preventing the People from deciding the will of the PEOPLE. Thats right other countries make the decisions for our government.
People are going to smoke marijuana. Get over it. Legalize it. Tax it. Make the state some money and stop throwing people in jail for possessing it. Its ridiculous that it hasnt been done already.
The only reason cannabis is a "gateway" drug is because in order to obtain it you have to find a drug dealer. And it is classified as a drug. Why is alcohol not classified as a drug?
Anthony Curtis, first of all it is proven that these other products you are talkin about, i.e. alcohol, soda, many breakfast cereals, cigarrettes, eggs, milk, and almost every prescription drug there is are far worse for you than cannabis. Not as bad for you. At this point the country knows the real reasons you guys wants to keep it illegal. I have harassed my entire life because of a few simple mistake I made as an adolescent. It is pathetic to keep gripping straws to fight the inevitable. Stop wasting my hard earned tax money on b.s. and put it toward keeping cocaine and herion off the streets. Or put it in our school systems, or towards FEMA, or something that really matters.
As a trauma nurse I have never seen anyone in my unit as a result of Marijuana, I do however see extremely tramatic patients as a result of drinkind and cocaine related substances. I feel alcohol should be illegal, it's a man made substance that serves absolutley no positive purpose.
